Fufumu Shokudo

One of the memorable features of a set meal at Fufumu Shokudo is the rice, cooked in a hagama pot and given a place of its own on the table. A visitor’s account notes that rice refills are available, and that set meals also come with miso soup and small side dishes.

On one visit, the special was a set meal with assorted spring rolls. The rolls were reportedly fried to order and packed with fillings including carrot and asparagus. A mild green chilli, said to have flavours reminiscent of mustard or yuzu kosho, offered a little variation as the meal went on. The small dishes also ranged widely: komatsuna greens namul, sweetened simmered sweet potato, radish pickles and mushrooms marinated with shio koji. It sounds like a satisfying lunch to linger over, especially with a refill of rice.

Another visit featured ginger-fried pork as the main, and the restaurant reportedly said that the main dishes change regularly—so the menu may be different each time. For something sweet or a drink after the meal, one diner enjoyed tofu ice cream and a sparkling apple drink. Published information lists opening hours as 11:00 to 15:00 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. This is a place to visit for a lunchtime set meal.
